What a treat. I loved this young author's voice! Her poems are heartfelt and relevant. It was refreshing to read the honest, unadulterated writings of one of today's youth. While this book will appeal mainly to young people, we older ones can benefit as well. For example, in the poem, "I'm Proud of Myself," Amani's maturity is evident. She shows that she thinks beyond today and is concerned about her future (how the decisions she makes today will impact the person she becomes). This is rare in youngsters today. In fact, in most of her poems, self-awareness and a responsibility to others is a driving theme. This young lady definitely is a talented writer. Peace Poems by Amani Nigia Williams is a look inside the mind, heart and soul of a growing young woman. Williams speaks of current issues and to the heart of what concerns her and other teens, in particular teen girls. Her voice is clear and sure filled with honest and hope. Brava Ms. Williams.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book of poetry penned by an introspective and courageous young lady. Through her words, one can see and feel her thoughts, worries, feelings, and innocence. Some poems made me think, others made me smile at their playfulness. I pray this will not be the last poetry collection she shares with the world. I loved reading this book and am so proud of the author.

Great debut book of poetry by a young African American woman (teen). She is keenly aware of today's world happenings and offers a glimpse into her perceptions of modern day society and life. If you want to know how today's positive youth think, read her book. Her Peace Poems are refreshing. I look forward to reading her future works.
